Staff Membership to the Legislation and Policy Brief (LPB) is open to all current American University Washington College of Law Students in good academic standing. It presents fantastic opportunities to develop crucial legal writing and editing skills, explore and blog on current legal issues on any subject area, as well as possibility for accession to the Executive Board. Staff Members are required to blog at least once per semester, but the LPB always welcomes more.
The LPB is currently looking for Staff for the 2015-2016 academic year, with the possibility of promotion after the first year. The Executive Board focuses on applicants’ previous academic and work experience, extracurricular activities, demonstrated interest in legislative and political issues, and availability.
The LPB is looking for Senior Editors and Staffers.
Senior Editors: Open to 2Ls and 3Ls ONLY. Senior Editors are responsible for managing his/her team of staffers (typically a group of 6-12 people) in the editing and source collection process over the year for between 1-3 articles. This is an excellent position to showcase leadership and managerial skills.
Staffers: As a Staffer, you will be on a team of 6-12 people working together on editing and collecting sources for between 1-3 article per year. This is an excellent position to practice and apply your BlueBooking skills outside of the classroom to professional publications.
